My Favorite Festival
There are many traditional festivals in China, such as Spring Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and Dragon Boat Festival. Each festival has its own unique customs and meanings. Among all these festivals, my favorite one is the Spring Festival.
The Spring Festival, also known as Chinese New Year, is the most important festival for Chinese people. It usually falls between late January and mid-February, depending on the lunar calendar. During this festival, people celebrate the coming of a new year and wish for good luck, health, and happiness.
One of the most exciting things about the Spring Festival is the customs and traditions. Days before the festival, people start to clean their homes, decorate their houses with red lanterns and couplets, and buy new clothes. On the Eve of the Spring Festival, families gather together to have a big feast and stay up late to welcome the new year. In the early morning of the first day, children dress up in new clothes and greet their elders to wish them a happy new year and receive red envelopes filled with money.
Another thing I love about the Spring Festival is the food. There are many delicious traditional dishes served during this festival, such as dumplings, fish, and sticky rice cakes. These foods symbolize good luck, prosperity, and unity. I especially love the dumplings, which are made of ground meat and vegetables wrapped in thin dough. They are delicious and fun to make with family members.
Moreover, the Spring Festival is also a time for family reunions. Relatives from different parts of the country come back home to spend the festival together. We share stories, play games, and watch the Spring Festival Gala on TV. It is a time of joy and happiness, filled with laughter and warmth.
